SuburbS at Hello Again

SuburbS is now stocked at Hello Again which is a fantastic and unique clothes retailer. The store is located in Cape Town at 44 Bloem Street which runs perpindicular to and is between Bree and Loop street.

News - SuburbS at Design Indaba 2009

The hectic weekend is over and we can confidently say that the Design Indaba was a major success! The suburbs fridge got cleaned out by the number of sales, feedback was extremely positive and we have developed many invaluable contacts.

We released four new designs on the Friday with the one selling out by the next day. Check out the new designs out in the Design Archive as well pics of the finished tees in the T-shirt section. Suburbs also now has a Flickr account to give you a more expansive photographic report on our endeavours.

We hope to take the next month to consolidate the gains made at the Indaba. Expect new designs soon as well as lots of other exciting news from the Suburbs team in the near future.

SuburbS Clothing was started in December 2007 by two young designers from those long line of neat houses in Kaapstad.

Matthew Olckers and Johan Truter, frustrated with waitering, looked to find some more enjoyable form of work. What resulted was definitely not work but a shared passion for design and creating something that is original (even if the term is overused).

The name "SuburbS" stems from the fact that this company is literally run by two kids from the suburbs and is not trying to be hardcore in any way. The brand rather looks to find humour in the small ironies around us.

One element that defines the company is our unwavering commitment to achieving "limited edition". We can say that SuburbS Clothing will never ever ever produce more than 15 copies of any piece of clothing. How many times have you bought something only to find that every second person is also wearing it?

So look out for SuburbS in a store or market near you.
